A Sonnet For Jade Eyes
I feel like some small bird within its nest,
So safe in warmth, yet aching for desire.
At ease, but stirred by longing in my breast,
For comfort still can feed a quiet fire.
Your jade-lit eyes, your dark and wave hair,
Once jetblack, now brushed with singular soft greys
So young in years, yet bearing weight with care,
Your heart aligned with love of older days.
Your skin, no less than art, in marble drawn,
Speckled in light that makes my own heart start
When first I saw you, time itself was gone,
And love arrived before I played a part.
Now joined as one, our beating hearts are two
So rare their sound, I know that they beat for you.
