Blogs and excessive cursing

One of my least favorite thing is reading crude, vulgar posts. I think the reason why is that I am not usually in a crude state of mind, and the intent of the post is to put you in that same state of mind, but in a rather abrupt sort of way.

Whether it be through the imagery those posts provide through the wording, or the excessive cursing someone is dishing out to get their point across. Both are quite annoying to read if I am going to be honest. Yet I understand that that is some people's style of writing.

I think cursing is fine to an extent- I am not a saint after all. I am definitely not a sailor, though!

On this same topic though, I wanted to mention something interesting that I found in the bear blog code of conduct.

I was cruising through the bear blog terms and what I thought was interesting was that the terms themselves highlight that it’s looked down upon, (or not allowed) to be too vulgar.

I think there are much better ways of getting your point across than throwing out stinky words. You could for example, go in great detail without saying one word of profanity and still get your point across quite eloquently and perhaps more deliberately than what many people do now, which is simply hurl profanities at others.

I will go on to mention that, I am not necessarily perturbed by the excessive cursing, I dont need a (content warning) and I think most people do not.

What I want to really get across is that we should all work on our vernacular, and perhaps grow up a bit.
