Pokémon is overrated
When I was younger I loved playing Pokémon. I first played it when I was 6, my mom bought me a Gameboy advance SP with leafgreen. I loved that game. I recently sold that game and all of my Pokémon games, I had this massive collection from my childhood, they're just not worth keeping anymore and they were taking up space.
With that said, I'll explain why Pokémon is overrated.
It's not because its childish. I mean it is. But theres a charm to innocent games. It's because Pokémon is mediocre. The old games were fun if you liked strategy, but they're fun when you're a kid and possibly a teenager.
The fun left when the difficulty did. These are games about battling and having a team.
You'd think the maybe, the game would make it harder, or scale up the difficulty with the more Pokémon you have in a team but it doesn't. And its one of the reasons that it's just too easy.
My complaint mostly lies in the company that owns Pokémon. Nintendo.
Nintendo sucks ass.
Nintendo doesn't provide you for the best service for your money, and I have numerous complaints about Nintendo but here's the main one: Pokémon is their biggest cash cow. With merchandise especially. Cards. clothes, plushies, toys, and then the series and the video games.
They of course know this and abuse of it. You see Pokémon overpriced everywhere. You see scalpers emptying shelves for basic card packs everywhere in box stores. Why? It's a card with a drawing on it for fucks sake.
No recent Pokémon game is good. I don't even know what the recent one is called. I forgot.
But, I've accidentally clicked on the videos for it. Yeah... looks the same as it did ten years ago.
Mediocre, awkward pauses, no voice dialogue for the characters, awful cut scenes, awkward Pokémon running around and repetitive lazy animations.
I'm astonished that Pokémon has gotten this far with that quality! Is it because children play it? Or is that their support mostly comes from adult players that are just hooked on nostalgia and don't even care that they're playing slop?
The one that maybe looked the best was Arceus for the switch, but even then, it had its gimmicks and that was years ago. And that's the thing. The quality is not consistent nor is it advancing. It switches between decent looking back to awkward and unplayable. Why?
Why am I complaining about Pokémon? Idk. Why not.
